(27 images)Khadambi Asalache, a Kenyan-born architect and poet, started to carve fretwork panels as a way of concealing damp patches in his basement but this developed into such a passion that he spent 15 years covering practically every inch of his small Regency home with his unique designs. Following Asalache's death, the house is now in the safe-keeping of the National Trust and his artistry has been preserved for the nation
